So I’ve moved from my previous space at blogspot.com to this new fancy abode at wordpress. I’m still getting the hang of this blog engine – it’s like moving into a new home and still trying to figure out how the heating works and where to find the gas metre.
Blogging for me started on New Years Day 2010 with a resolution to blog a photo daily – I know it’s a tried and tested format but for me it was quite a challenge. I was clear from the start though, that it wasn’t to be a diary of my life but each photo I posted had to be good – technically, aesthetically, creatively, conceptually or narratively – I had to feel that it was worth posting for one of those reasons.
I had a lot of fun doing the blog, it became a slightly unhealthy obsession at times but I did gain a healthy number of followers along the way, and really valued the feedback, both positive and/or constructive, I received.
I learned so much about photography in the process and that was probably, for me, the most valuable part of the exercise. I still have so much to learn but I think I came to a clearer understanding what I like to photograph and what sort of photographer I aspire to be through doing it. By the end of the year though, I was tiring of the format and the blog name itself ‘photophoto365’ – although useful for the project last year as a statement of intent – didn’t give me the freedom to develop this further.
So a new home was needed and a new start. I’m still not quite clear on how I will develop this site but I am confident that it will evolve, in Darwinian fashion, into something I’m pleased with. I have a number of projects in my head that I intend to pursue this year. I’ll no doubt bore you with some of my incessant chatter along the way, but I hope you enjoy the journey as much as I’m sure I will.
Ciao for now
