By the way, Edinburgh folk, some of my Morocco pics are on display in the Circus Cafe on St Mary’s Street (just off the Royal Mile). If you don’t know the cafe, it’s a cool new art cafe, does fantastic lunches, owned by the same people who have Empires, further down the street. Definitely worth hanging out there for an afternoon, should be opening in the evenings soon as well.
I had the mezze and it was dee-lish.
I took my mum to see Damon Albarn’s new opera, Dr Dee, on Saturday in Manchester for her birthday (I know, I know, it’s the gift that gives back tenfold).
It was a pretty amazing show, with a very impressive opening. A live raven flying through the auditorium of the Palace Theatre and landing on the set, squawking 3 times, heralding the bad times ahead for Dr. Dee, before exiting stage left.
There were some really imaginative visuals, great physicality, and yes, the music was pretty good too. Definitely worth a trip if you’re heading for the Manchester International Festival in the next few days or heading to the ENO after that.
